Pictures Are Not For Sales

Many people in the marketing world use pictures to bring awareness as a part of the selling process. The true use of pictures though is to provide value and to build trust.

Photos that show off your organization’s culture and personality will help you build loyalty for your brand and tell your story.  You don’t use email for sales, so why use pictures?!

For example, you might think to show a picture of your office, church, product, trucks, staff, or the service that you provide. All of these bring awareness.  However, behind-the-scenes photos of your products being made or of people engaging with your organization will show what you stand for and more importantly that you’re interesting and human. It’s not rocket science; the more unique, interesting content you share, the more interest you’ll receive in return.

Here are some examples of organizations using pictures in neat ways:

* A flower shop owner shares photos of happy customers in his store.
* A HV/AC manufacturer shares behind-the-scenes action from their factory.
* A bank shares a video of their community volunteer event.
* A government organization ( Library, Committee ) shares photos of recent programs.
* A Church or Nonprofit shares their photos of an RCIA meeting, award recipients in action, or disaster relief efforts.

The platform that you employ with your pictures also has an effect on impact and response.

You may start with your website and post a link to it from Facebook and other social media, however, since people are known more by their email address than their phone number, a higher response rate is found through email marketing.  This works with an established relationship, but to get an email opened for the first time I often use post cards or rack cards ( see examples on my “Bring Results!” page).  Postal mail a “teaser” picture and tell the prospect to see more on your website, or let them know to look for your email.

The key to results marketing for your organization is to show in pictures what it is that you do – It’s your legacy!  See my portfolio for examples, click here to check it out now!
